woah cool peacock! the blue seems..well it looks awesome!

zey, is it ok if i have some advice? there's this ceremony tomorrow in my school, givin out awards. i was wondering..what's the best way to set the flash, in order that the backdrop will be lit nicely..?

and is it possible to avoid those nasty shadows caused by the flash? like the model's shadow on the backdrop?

many thanks..will be shooting tomorrow. get to use the 580ex for real :D

Sounds like you'll be getting lots of fun. If you're going to use flash by pointing the flash head to the model, definitely you're going to cast a strong shadow on the backdrop. Please use flash as fill-in flash only, which means, expose your ambient lighting properly. This is to avoid having dark background and ugly flash light on the model. My choice of flash diffuser is Gary Fong's LightSphere II. It throws a softer lighting onto the model and reduces the harsh shadow.
